PAMPAYA is a seashell micro-sculpture, drilled, shaped, and glazed by hand for a signature Wet-look finish. For the EMPREINTE collection, only the prismatic layer—the purest and most resistant—is carved to reveal your message or identity.

SCULPTING INTIMACY

Your story is unlike any other.

That is why I sculpt each letter, each number, and each symbol one by one, directly into the tiny seashell fragments I gather on the beach.

In my universe, no rigid jewelry constrains your body. My creations are flexible, for a soft and gentle wear that respects every one of your curves. Your charms are independent and free. They slide, roll, and live to the rhythm of your movements.

MAKE YOUR JEWELRY UNIQUE

leave your mark

SIZE, STYLE, AND ETHICS? Forget standardized letters laser-cut from the white mother-of-pearl of river mussels, farmed in ponds in Asia. Here, the Ocean delivers its secret, and you sculpt yours through its wild nature. It is the Ocean that decides the curve of your seashell and creates it, on the Atlantic Coast, in France. It is the choice to wear a piece of the wild close to you.

IRREGULAR & ORGANIC? Through the art of hand micro-sculpting, no two charms are ever identical. Your "M", "J", "A", or "E" will look like no other, neither in its shape nor in its nuances. Rest assured that your 'pendentil L|C' is strictly unique: of wild provenance, hand-foraged, and created in France in my atelier, it exists only as a single edition. It cannot be replicated, not by me, nor by any process. It is an original, hand-sculpted work of art.

OCEANIC WET LOOK? The sculpted seashell fragment is then protected and enhanced by my Oceanic Wet Look, which reinforces its strength and makes it smooth and soft. It gives it a shine as brilliant as if you had just found it on the beach, still wet from the waves.

SCULPTED FINISH

Create your mark: Personalize the shape you desire. Your custom seashell charm comes with their rings in 14k Gold Filled or 925 Silver. Your PAMPAYA, hand-sculpted and protected by its Oceanic Wet Look, thus easily attaches to all your jewelry (chains, bracelets, rings, or hoops).

THE "HAUTE MAIN" CRAFTSMANSHIP

Each seashell fragment is cut, sculpted, and polished in my atelier. To freeze their brilliance in time, each charm benefits from my Oceanic Wet Look: an exclusive process that reinforces its extreme strength and guarantees a mirror polish to the seashell fragment, even after years of swimming.

Back from the Beach

Beachcombing looks promising, I am preparing my harvest to metamorphose the seashells before assembling them into jewelry. Since 2015, I have been THE Ocean Shaper:

I create hand-shaped seashell jewelry, just like a surfboard. I sculpt them to personalize them, then I restore their beauty: that brilliant shine they have when you pick them up on the shore, using my exclusive recipe for an Oceanic Wet-look effect.

Let me guide you through the creation of a piece unlike any other, and discover how to personalize your shell in every available shape.

THE SECRET

1 PAMPAYA

An initial, a number, a totem. Pure simplicity, to wear close to you.
1 PAMPAYA
THE SECRET BEHIND MY LOGO

It has its own secret. The brilliant graphic designer of a globally renowned brand reshaped my original logo to mimic the rolling waves of the Ocean. That alone was enough to win me over, but his stroke of genius was creating an entire bespoke alphabet using exclusively the straight line of the "L" and the curve of the "C" from my initials.

And no, he obviously didn't incorporate a shell—the idea was far too cliché. Instead, it features the star, my favorite symbol, signaling an incoming barrel.

Absolutely yes, I love my logo. And you, what is your secret?

THE NUMBERS

Your lucky number to hang from your jewelry. The size of all my charms is between 0.6 mm and 10 mm.

THE TOTEMS

Here you can see the initial carving revealing the prismatic layer (the hardest of the shell's three layers). The totems will require several more meticulous passes to polish the edges, soften the curves, and perfect the shapes, before the final illumination: the Oceanic Wet Look.

PAMPAYAS en coquillages Micro-sculptés à la main en étoiles par Linda Clarini Bijoux en co

This is the rough draft, the initial raw cut. At this stage, the material is still untamed. I have carved away the outer shell to reach the prismatic layer—the most resilient one. It will require hours of meticulous sanding and polishing to soften the edges, refine the curves, and sculpt the final shape, right before the ultimate revelation: the Ocean Glaze.

The reimagined Heart. By popular demand, I have finally created this unprecedented shape for you. Here are my first iterations: I micro-carved this totem from a Nassarius Colombella. Its shape is naturally domed because I start with a whole, perfectly round shell. This makes it infinitely more complex to carve and balance compared to a simple fragment already flattened by the Ocean.

The Surfboard. It requires a length of about 2 cm to accurately respect the rocker (the curve) and carve the rails.

PEOPL ALSO ASK
THE DESIGNER'S ADVICE:

1 | What is seashell jewelry called?

In the world of creation, we go beyond the simple and casual "surfer jewelry" to speak of Haute Main (Handcrafted) jewelry or shells turned into jewelry, not the other way around—meaning the shell is the flagship material that makes up the piece. Here is why: to speak of creation, there must be transformation. These are not shell-shaped jewels or pieces inspired by them: the material here IS the seashell, which is genuinely transformed to become a jewel. Without this step where the shell is completely metamorphosed, it is only the final stage: assembly.

At Maison L|C, I don't even speak of simple seashells, but of "ancient matter" → Polished by the waves over extremely long periods, on this page, you will see talismans. They are unique pieces that take the shape of what I call PAMPAYAS. These are hand-Micro-carved seashell pendants (charms) in various shapes such as:

  • Initials from A to Z

  • Numbers from 0 to 9

  • Totems

  • Heart

  • Star

  • Surfboard

  • Bespoke

What sets them apart is a globally unique know-how developed in 2015: the Oceanic Wet-look, aimed at shaping your shell just as one shapes a surfboard, by hand-crafting and glazing it. It restores your shell's fleeting wet gleam, which fades as soon as it is taken out of the water. This specific process required 6 months of research and testing. It permanently freezes the Ocean's reflection on the seashell, as if you had just picked it up at the edge of the waves. Here are the origins of the different species I use:

FRANCE ATLANTIC OCEAN South-West | Seignosse — also known as the Silver Coast (Côte d'Argent).

  • The Dog Cockle (Glycymeris glycymeris): This is candidate #1! This bivalve is very thick, round, and its shell is white/cream with beautiful brown/caramel stripes or spots. When broken and rolled by the ocean, it yields exactly those smooth, beige, and caramel fragments.

  • The Necklace Shell (Natica catena or Naticidae): A snail-shaped shell, very solid, often light beige with small reddish or caramel patterns.

  • The Wedge Clam (Donax trunculus): Finer, but highly present in the sand of the South-West, with colorful beige, white, and sometimes purplish bands.

  • The Great Scallop or Variegated Scallop (Pecten maximus / Mimachlamys varia): Heavily worn fragments can produce these white and caramel hues.

WILD ORIGIN - HAND-FORAGED: I gather their tiny fragments along the Coast. From white to caramel, passing through Cream and Sand, absolutely sublime. These species are the starting point of my craft as an Ocean Shaper.

ASIA PACIFIC OCEAN "The Golden Triangle Lagoon" Raja Ampat — considered the Amazon of the Seas, encompassing Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

  • The Pyrene Ocellata is a sea snail, from the mollusk class. It is a marine gastropod of the Columbellidae family. Ranging from chocolate brown with irregular white polka dots to white zebra lines, their size varies; the ones I use measure from 0.6 to about 1 cm, but they can grow up to 2 cm.

  • The Nassarius Colombella is also a sea snail, from the mollusk class. They are widely confused on the Internet because they can seem very similar, yet their differences are notable. Here is how to tell them apart: their shades, in particular, are different; the Nassarius is darker, almost black, its white dots are much finer and closer together, and its zebra stripes are wider. Their shape also sets them apart; unlike the Pyrene Ocellata, which is quite rounded, the Nassarius Colombella is more refined, elongated, and pointed at the front. See cross-section by the Analysis Workshop Exhibition "La Métamorphose" → It is a marine gastropod of the Nassariidae family, black with small irregular white polka dots or zebra-striped with white lines. Its size varies; the ones I use measure from 0.8 to about 1.5 cm.

WILD REEF - HAND-FORAGED: two species I call graphic chocolates, ranging between chocolate and deep black with white polka dots or white zebra stripes, simply gorgeous. A fantastic discovery.

All these species make up the precious and delicate charms that I hand-carve and glaze. They are designed to be worn as true Bespoke luxury amulets on a 14K Gold Filled or Sterling Silver 925 jump ring.
