Your Role in the Atelier
Bespoke Shell Jewelry
To ensure your connection with the piece is absolute, I have established an exclusive selection protocol. I know how deeply the specific hue of a shell can resonate within you.
The Choice of Fragment: Upon ordering, I can provide a selection of natural fragments. You choose the three shards that "call" to you, in order of preference, before I begin the metamorphosis.
THE ATELIER RITUAL: Crafting your Bespoke Shell Jewelry
Metamorphosis in 9 Gestures
I. THE AWAKENING (Preparation)
Expertise: Drawing from 10 years of experience, I select only the fragments that catch my eye, analyzing their unique grain and fault lines.
Purification: A meticulous cleaning to release the biomineral from its salty memory and reveal its original hue.
Shaping: The primary gesture. I hand-carve the material to define its fundamental form.
II. THE SIGNATURE (Creation)
Micro-sculpting: The imprint of your message. Using precision tools, I engrave your secret into the mother-of-pearl. This is where the "manual vibration" comes to life.
Oceanic Glazing: My final signature. A layer-by-layer application of my exclusive protection to flood the material with light and restore its original "wet" look.
III. THE MIRROR POLISH (Revelation)
Polishing: A work of patience to give the jewel a soft, smooth touch, akin to a pebble polished by centuries of tides.
Buffing: The ultimate stage for the mother-of-pearl to achieve a deep, unalterable radiance.
IV. THE FINAL ELEGANCE (Finishing)
'Haute Main' Assembly: The sacred union with Sterling Silver, 14k Gold Filled, or Miyuki glass.
The Atelier's Seal: The final inspection before your bespoke piece leaves the workbench, accompanied by its Certificate of Exception and your gift card.
THE ETHICS OF MAISON L|C: Mineral Upcycling for Ocean Jewelry
Operation "A Fragment for the Ocean"
The Choice of Mineral Upcycling "The Ocean is a fragile sanctuary where every element, even the smallest, is vital to the balance of biodiversity. This is why Maison L|C follows an absolute code of conduct: I never collect whole shells, and even less so living specimens.
My work relies exclusively on the gleaning of micro-fragments: infinitesimal shards from 2 mm to 10 mm (up to 20 mm for my surfboard designs), swept by the wind or returned to the shore by high tides.
By transforming these abandoned mineral relics into fine jewelry, I practice a poetic upcycling. I offer an eternal second life to what was once a mollusk's armor before its natural conversion into sand. My gesture is an essential reminder: leave the shells on the shore; they are the cradle of tomorrow's life. I only gather an infinitesimal microscopic part, already surrendered to oblivion."
YOUR PERSONAL ARCHIVES
Sending me your own beach finds is a beautiful gesture that I wholeheartedly encourage. Entrusting your memories to the Atelier is an honor. However, micro-sculpting is a 'Haute Main' discipline practiced on a rebellious material.
This is why I apply the 3-Shards Rule: I systematically require the sending of three cleaned fragments (no whole shells, please). This is my safeguard to ensure an ideal result, even if the material decides to break under the tool. Unused fragments join my material library to nourish future creations.
The Time of the Hand: At Linda Clarini, excellence ignores haste. Your Totem Jewel does not yet exist: it is born from your order. Depending on the complexity of your imprint, allow 2 to 10 working days for complete realization. As soon as your piece leaves the workbench, it travels securely to you.
